I’m sorry to keep writing about computers, but it’s what is on my mind. Everyone has listened to an MP3 or some other music file in a digital format. If you haven’t, go kill yourself, because you will never make it in this digital world.

Pretty much everyone is aware that I am a huge fan of Apple Computer. Their applications just work. No matter how advanced the features get, Apple finds a way to design the application so it’s easy to use. iTunes, Apple’s music media player, is no exception. It is available for both Windows and Mac. I recommend that people use this as their default music player. It is robust, intuitively designed, and pretty much just kicks ass.

For those of you that refuse to use iTunes, whether it be because you hate Apple or because you are an elitist, not wishing to follow trends, I have an answer for you. Songbird is a cross platform media player/browser. It is built on Mozilla technology, and it’s free. It looks similar to Apple’s iTunes, with a few different features. Rather than having an iTunes store associated with it, Songbird allows you to search for media through a few media search engines. Go here to see a full set of features. I recommend watching the screencast for a good overview of the features. Songbird is still under heavy development and should turn out to be a great media application, but I don’t see it replacing iTunes for the masses.
