Fish Pond
Well, I have been keeping up with my new hobby. Fish are captivating and fun, but the tank just doesn’t satisfy the need of a man. That is why I have decided to build a backyard pond! Parental approval is pending, but my dad should be an easy sell. I just have to prove to my mom that this will be aesthetically pleasing. Since I am opposed to digging tons of dirt out and hauling it away, I have decided to build an above ground pond. Basically this will be accomplished by stacking bricks and setting up a pond liner, tucked under the top layer of bricks. A waterfall will be included in this design.

Here is my sketch of what the pond will look like, fish included.

Here is the sketch with respect to the rest of the backyard.

For those of you that think I have not thought this through, I even drew up a blueprint.
So who wants to help me build this sucker? I figure it will take a few hours to do most of the work, laying down the bricks and liner. It’ll be a great workout and you’ll get a great sense of accomplishment from using your hands and building something. Once this is built and stocked, I will have a garden party, but instead of tea and crumpets, we will be having margaritas and beer.

You do realize you will have to be moving rocks, not climbing them, right? My mom is being a touger sell than I thought. Normally I wouldn’t listen and just start digging and laying bricks, but I will do my best to hold off construction until I get her approval. What I’m going to do is gather a list of people willing to help me build this, and then she will have no choice but to let us do it! Andrew wants to help me, so I have two so far, three if you count Michelle bringing us beer for our beer breaks every twenty minutes.

Yeah, after some thought, the fish pond isn’t going to happen just yet. Building it is not the problem. Keeping the dirt around it from sliding away and ruining the integrity of the support walls would be too much of a task. Until I can control the weather, I will just stick to a creating a large fish barrel outside. That doesn’t mean we still can’t have beer and margaritas.

why not just get those plastic blow-up pools ghetto kids play in during the summer, until the “pond” idea gets realized further.
if you wait, I’ll help you plan and design it :)
