What does it really mean to be Taiwanese? The reason I ask is because although my family is Shanghainese on both sides, I finally figured out my dad was born in Taiwan. Does that make me Taiwanese? If he can find his birth certificate, he has dual citizenship, right? Really being born there, he has as much claim to being Taiwanese as everyone else in Taiwan, other than the native people from the island. So don’t look down your noses at me, Taiwan! I’m one of you!

I expect a lot from my friends, and I hope they can expect a lot from me too. I want to be the person called for a ride to the airport during traffic, and I want to go. I want to be willing to use a vacation day just to spend time with a friend. I want to be the guy that people go to when they need things, not because I want to be some sort of hero, but because that’s what friends do for each other.

My dad has friends that he has known since high school. I remember having a strange conversation on the way home from work one day and asked him, “If _______ called you in the middle of the night and said to grab a shovel and take a ride to the desert because he needed your help burying a body, would you do it?” He told me very frankly, “Assuming it was some sort of accident, yes I would.”

I still need to add a black background to the tank to hide the wires and tubes. I was also thinking of redecorating my tank. I don’t know what kind of look I would want to go with, but I didn’t want it to be a funny theme. I want people to look at the tank and think it fits well together. I have seen a lot of these ornaments around. They give the tank a broken, underwater pipeline look. Then I thought a sunken ship theme would be cool. Old sailing vessels are cool, but the sails don’t look great as solid pieces of the ornament. Then I thought about a submarine. Lastly, I came upon this and thought an ancient ruins theme might be fun.

I bet that’s what they say in prison. It looks like I got the 24-hour flu bug that has been going around lately. I started feeling sick about a third of the way to work. I got to work and expelled fluids multiple times. Unfortunately for me, my dad and I carpooled to work and he had a lunch meeting. I thought I was stuck at work. Fortunately for me, I have good friends. Tim was able to pick me up from work and take me home. I almost made it home without vomiting. Life is good.

Edit: (4:45 PM) Life is not so good now. I’m currently camping in the bathroom so I don’t have to get up as and move as far. Fluids are still being lost, and I can’t replenish them as they are just lost again. I don’t think I’ve ever been this sick in my life. It’s pretty painful. I’ve been advised by both my mom and Randall that a hospital will only give me an IV drip. I really hope it’s the 24-hour bug that everyone else is getting or else I’m screwed.

I made of all the people that hurt themselves playing the Nintendo Wii. I even laughed when Lo told me he threw out his shoulder playing the Wii. There is even a website dedicated to the injuries sustained during gameplay. You can check it out here.

I have joined the ranks of people, who have injured themselves playing video games. I was playing a game that required fast alternation up and down motion of the controllers. I got overly excited and caught my fingernail, tearing out a piece of skin. The good news is that even though I did this, I still beat Kyung at the game. The next game I got overly excited again and smacked my hand on the same spot. Nevertheless, I beat Kyung again.

Good news, everyone! I can resume my rightful place as King of the Internet. I got my laptop back pretty quickly and I’m up and running on it. Unfortunately, I have lost some pictures, including Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. The up side is that our family barely does stuff together anyway, so that’s really not that many pictures. Here is the recap since Christmas.
