Stolen Credit Card
I got into work this morning and buried my nose in my orders and such, when I received a phone call from Circuit City asking me to confirm an order on an HP laptop I placed on my work credit card. On top of that there is no way I would be buying an HP laptop, although I do wonder if it was a Vista loaded laptop.
This person put down a ship to address in Long Beach. The credit card is used at a lot of our local vendors, so all it takes is one unscrupulous individual to hang on to the credit card number and try to use it.
A quick call to my credit card company revealed the culprit also placed on online order at Champs Sports for the tune of about $1000. The idiot was probably buying Raiders jerseys. Let this be a lesson to everyone. Change your credit card numbers and bank numbers at least yearly, even if there is nothing wrong with the account. This was a reminder for me to change my personal credit card number. I’ve had it long enough to memorize it. It’s also a good practice to lower your spending limit on cards. Credit card companies want to give you a huge line of credit, hoping you will spend more, but it’s really not necessary for most of us.
