March Madness Has Begun!
Most people don’t realize how much I follow sports, possibly because I don’t talk about it much. That’s mostly due to the fact that most of my friends aren’t as interested as I am in sports. Today I’d like to write about sports.
Every year, when the men’s basketball tournament happens, productivity drops across in the nation to a total of millions of dollars. I’d like to be part of that productivity drop and share with the few of my readers that are interested in the NCAA tournament my views on this whole tournament.
Let’s start off with UCLA, my team. The have a phenomenal team, but they are lacking in size with the biggest guy on the team being Lorenzo Mata at 6′9″, a tiny man by basketball center standards. I expect them to win their bracket, only running into problems with teams with large center. Unfortunately, this is Florida again this year if they make it to the finals. Then it will be a face off of the ugly centers.
USC does not stand a chance. People just like to wish both LA teams have a chance in the tournament, but let’s face it. USC is nothing. Sure they have four guys that can each put up twenty points a night on any given night, but I don’t think they have the teamwork to all put down the points needed to be a championship team.
Kansas probably has the most talented team in the whole league, but I predict a choke by them. I think only one out of four analysts predicted Kansas would take the division from UCLA. I don’t buy it and predict another disappointing end to a year for them.
The best player to watch in the whole tournament is a Texas freshman, Kevin Durant. This kid is the best freshman basketball player to hit the college hardwood in a long time. Unfortunately, being so young, I don’t believe his performance will amount to much in the tournament.
Florida is a team I dislike for very obvious reasons. I don’t believe they are as good this year as they were last year, but with good centers going straight to the NBA, their center Noah is pretty dominant. I predict them winning their division, and hopefully they end up losing. I never like to see the same team win two years in a row, unless it’s my team.
Whoever set up the brackets this year must have been drinking, because they set them up with strange coincidences popping up all over the first round. Many coaches are playing against their Alma Maters in the first round, and many players are playing against schools from which they transferred. On top of that, the Stanford Cardinals are playing the Louisville Cardinals today. Go Cardinals!
So where do you place your bets? Well, I will bet on UCLA for any game. I believe Spencer still owes me some drinks from his lack of faith last year. As far as who will take the whole tournament, it’s really a crapshoot. I would have to agree with the rest of analysts and go with Florida, Ohio State, or UCLA. Of course, I will be hoping for early defeats for both Florida and Ohio State. Let the madness begin! Go Bruins!

are you sure you’re talking about the right person, acie law? He plays on texas A&M, kevin durant the projected #1 or 2 pick in the upcoming nba draft plays on Texas.
As much as I like UCLA, the reason they might lose is their lack of firepower. Of course I picked them to go all the way, but when affalo and collison are off their offense becomes stagnant. If they had a real big man, then they’d be okay. So affalo and collison better come to play

Ha! How did that happen? I totally knew that but I went to ESPN.com make sure how to spell Durant’s name and grabbed the first name I saw under freshman and Texas, but it was Texas A&M. Post fixed.
As far as UCLA goes, they do rely heavily on those guys, but it is their defense that has brought them this far. That’s why they have trouble with big men. You can’t teach size.

The Duke upset is insane. VCU is going to lose in the next round anyway, what a waste. I actually have UCLA making it to the final four in my bracket, but I don’t think they will win it though. The UNC against EKY scared the crap outta me too when their first gap was down to a 4 pt. lead, whew…my bracket is still safe.
I agree that the teams to watch is UCLA, FL., Ohio, and UNC. Those games should be fun.

BTW I made a rule that if I comment or check your blog, then I would have to do it to Mish’s as well. That way I am not playing any favoritism. (B/c I want to continue to play Wii and taste test Mish’s experimental recipes that are pretty darn good.)

UNC is not worth watching for a tournament contender. They are going to choke. That is my call.
I haven’t paid attention much to Duke this year so I never thought much of them. I wasn’t too surprised they lost. They’re not a basketball powerhouse. They always have a good program, but this year I don’t think they were anything special.
As far as commenting evently, no one cares. We won’t deprive you of our Wii and cooking.

FJ, you mean you only gave me a comment out of fairness?? Hmmph. Oh well, I’ll take it!
