Five Years and Going Strong
Celebrate with me! I just rewnwed my hosting and realized we’re just under a month away from the five year anniversary of Moron Enterprises. This worthless website has been going strong for about eight years but officially under the Moron Enterprises domain for the past five years. Let’s take a walk down memory lane.
This is a screenshot of a design back in 2003. This was when I first really figured out how to use iframes and I thought a thinking bubble would be kind of a neat idea. Of course I didn’t want to put a big mug of myself on the site, so I went with Monty the Duck.
This was a design in early 2004, also relying on iframes. That is not a screenshot of a browser there. That is how I designed my site. It was made to look like the Safari browser with links to individual sections looking like bookmark shortcuts.
A little later in 2004 I decided to give my website a more personal feel to it. After all, this website was about me, so I designed it around myself. The toilet picture made some people stop visiting my website at work. It was totally worth it.
Finally I took things a step further in 2005 and made personal thoughts and musings my theme. This screenshot shows a picture of my head, but it was one of four random pictures I had of myself doing the talking. You can still see this basic layout in my Deep Thoughts.
It’s funny to read back on my posts and see how my writing has changed. Hopefully you all have enjoyed reading and commenting on this site as much as I have enjoyed creating it. Here is to another five years of moronic entertainment on the web!
I added a Picasa Web Album widget on the sidebar. Take a peek. It shows random pictures from one of my albums at random. Don’t bother refreshing the page to see a different album. The images are cached and only update once an hour or if a new post is made.
While you’re viewing the photos, click on some advertisement, you freeloaders. While I would gladly pay to run my site without any outside income, it helps if some of the costs are offset. Clicking on ads once a week even would work to pay for the majority of my hosting bill without alarming the people serving the ads. Notice I didn’t say their name. They’re always watching, always searching.
