About This Site...

This website has gone through many revisions since college but always maintained a spirit of fun. This is where I get to speak my mind, as a child would, spilling my thoughts without filtering them. I'm not likely to say anything profound or moving, but hopefully someone gets some entertainment value out of my ramblings.

About Me...

I'm just your average working class male, although I've held the title Boyfriend of the Year for many years running, and even received the self-assigned title of World's Strongest Billionaire. I enjoy good beer, good food, and good company.

Multilingual

I’m going to learn all these languages and then get a job at the United Nations as a translator. My list of languages will include Spanish, Russian, Japanese, French, Italian, Portuguese, Chinese, Greek, JAVA, PHP, HTML, C++, and JavaScript. Those last few are just in case robots create their own sovereign nation and need a translator to talk to humans. It’s either the Chinese or the robots that will take over the world. I have to ensure my safety one way or the other. I just hope it’s not Chinese robots that take over.

I Need a Time Machine

After cleaning some things out of my grandma’s house, I came to the realization that all old people collect a lot of junk. Then they must sprinkle their junk with thirty years of dust. I ran across nothing of real value, but there were a few things that were interesting. Old trinkets, photo slides, and a Black Widow spider that almost had me for a meal were pretty much all that was really of interest. I did run across this glass set I brought home.

Music Review: A Triple Threat

I picked up some new music this weekend and I thought I’d share my thoughts on these albums.

41b4h1wpnxl_ss400_.jpgSmashing Pumpkin’s new album, Zeitgeist, is one of the albums I picked up. “Smashing Pumpkins’ first CD in 7 years” was written on the packaging, and you know what? It’s about time. If you like The Smashing Pumpkins, you will like this album. The familiar distortion that is The Smashing Pumpkins’ signature sound comes through in many of the tracks. Also, in typical Pumpkins fashion the guitar levels are turned up way high and the vocals come in as almost background tracks in many of the tracks. This album is good but definitely not ground breaking. If you’re a fan of Billy Corgan’s work with The Smashing Pumpkins, it’s worth a listen just to hear some new stuff.

happinessltd.jpg Another album I picked up is Hot Hot Heat’s latest album, Happiness Ltd. I have heard this album previously through a friend that works in the music industry. He has had a copy of this album for quite a while and only let me hear it. I couldn’t get a copy of it, because it was watermarked. I’ve been waiting for this album to appear on store shelves for quite a while. This album is great. While it showcases the same whiney vocals that Hot Hot Heat fans are so familiar with, it is much more mellow than their last release. I believe it will probably be enjoyed and accepted more so by the masses more. This is an album I recommend you guys pick up.

Religion and Language

I was picked up a burger from In-N-Out today for lunch. They still have bible verse references printed on their product wrappers and containers. I admire people that are willing to let their beliefs stand out in their business. We have a company that is Jewish owned, and they were completely closed yesterday for Rosh Hashanah and today as well. There was not a soul in sight. In our in industry almost no one closes the business completely on any day. If the standard workers are off, the maintenance crews come in to do their work. I admire that the owner gave everybody the day off. I just wish they told us, so our salesman didn’t show up, see a locked gate and think they went out of business. We were ready to send out our debt collector, baseball bat and all.

I can understand how a foreign language might be tough, but what baffles me is when people can’t pronounce sounds that exist in their native tongue or even flip sounds for letters. Take the Chinese for instance.

Stumble Upon My Website Via Google

I have tracking software installed on my server. It tells me basic information about the visitors, like where visitors are coming from geographically, what websites they are coming from, and what browsers people are using. One more thing it tells me are the search terms used to find my website. Here is a list of some of the stranger ones used this year in no particular order.

Aquarium Updates

I added a large amount of Java Moss in my Dwarf Crayfish tank. They are happily climbing around in the tangled jungle. There are quite a few of them carrying eggs. That means more crayfish are on their way!

The Brain as a Computer Program

We’re trying to see if my grandma will adjust to assisted living, so we are taking her daily but not having her stay overnight yet. She eats and participates in activities, and we take her home after dinner. Today I had to drive my grandma to the assisted living home, because my dad had an appointment in the morning. Talking to her, I tried to figure out how she was processing our conversation. I think I figured it out the code her brain uses. I think it’s the same code inserted into all elderly people’s brains during checkups. Forgive my syntax. I haven’t written code in a long time.

Crazy Ideas? I Think Not

I ran across this article on The Consumerist. First of all, why is this a problem? Hooters waitresses can dress any way they please as far as I am concerned, except for turtleneck sweaters and parkas. This is why Nude Airlines needs to become a reality. Also, where was this girl going that she was flying in for a doctor’s appointment? I bet it was some renowned boob doctor.

For those of you iPhone owners, bitching and moaning about the price drop, I say tough luck. It happens. New products come out and products drop in price. Fortunately for you, Steve Jobs is a bit more compassionate than I am in this matter. At least he is making sure you buy more of his stuff.
