About This Site...

This website has gone through many revisions since college but always maintained a spirit of fun. This is where I get to speak my mind, as a child would, spilling my thoughts without filtering them. I'm not likely to say anything profound or moving, but hopefully someone gets some entertainment value out of my ramblings.

About Me...

I'm just your average working class male, although I've held the title Boyfriend of the Year for many years running, and even received the self-assigned title of World's Strongest Billionaire. I enjoy good beer, good food, and good company.

Apple Laptops vs. Everything Else

In the past half decade, Apple has made leaps and bounds and gained lots of popularity, starting with its iMacs and followed by the ever popular iPod. People are starting to wonder whether they should purchase an Apple computer for their next laptop. If you are willing to spend the time to learn a new system, then you should go for it.

The first question that comes up in people’s minds when looking at Apple laptops is, “Why are the things so expensive?” The short answer is quality. You are not comparing apples to apples, no pun intended.

Apple laptops are sexy. I don’t know what it is about other computer manufacturers, but they can never create a form factor that is simple and clean. They throw tons of buttons on the computer and think it looks good. It’s ridiculous. Take a look at the front of my work laptop. How does anyone think this looks good?img_7074.JPG

After you wipe the drool from your mouth, pick up an Apple laptop. The unit feels solid. I can’t stand it when you pick up a laptop and the casing creaks. It just screams of poor build quality. This is not just a pet peeve of mine. The more flexing you have in a casing, the more likely you are to be pulling and stretching the internals as well. That can’t be good for sensitive electronics held together by tiny cables. Not all non Apple computers are built this way. Pick up a high end Sony VAIO or a high end IBM. They are built solid as well, but their price is right up there if not higher than Apple’s price tag.

I’m not proposing that an Apple laptop is right for everyone, but for those of you balking at the price of Apple laptops, I wanted to point out what you’re getting for the price tag. It’s not the same, cheap build that a lot of vendors offer. It’s a quality piece of technology.
