This Saturday was KoreAm Journal’s annual Unforgettable. I’m not sure what the official premise is exactly. It’s a celebration of Korean Americans and their accomplishments or something along those lines. At the least it is a good time with a lot of Korean people, some famous in entertainment and others high ranking business men and women. If any of you are ever invited to this event, black tie is more of a suggestion than a requirement.

I was lying in bed and overheard this conversation while my mom was on the phone with my brother, apparently discussing his upcoming wedding guest list.
Mom: “No, they’re on your list. You take them.”
*Mike Responds*
Mom: “You told me they were on your list. They’re not on my list. I’m not inviting them.”
*Mike Responds*
Mom: “You told me that Matt and Michelle were going to be on your list. If you don’t invite them, they’re not coming.”

Sorry, kids. I lied. There was a Santa Claus, but he died back in 2000 after a tough battle with a combination of The Bird Flu and Gonorrhea. It was a tough year for us all but especially for Santa.

I ran across this article on how scientists are now able to turn on homosexual behavior and turn it off. Here’s a clip from the article.
“A new study finds that both drugs and genetic manipulation can turn the homosexual behavior of fruit flies on and off within a matter of hours.”

Another weekend has passed, and tomorrow it’s back to the grindstone. I wasn’t smashed out of my head this weekend, so I remember it. Unfortunately I don’t have a lot of pictures to prove what went on, or what didn’t go on this weekend. I dropped my camera Friday night and it’s out of service. You’ll just have to take my work that there was no gay sex.
Friday was Julieann’s birthday, so Michelle, Alice, and I headed to Blue Velvet to hang out with a bunch of kids that graduated same year we did, but from high school and not college. It was fun to get out to a new place, but at one point Julieann and Christine started getting belligerent and directing their towards me and saying, “Stupid Randall! Who wants to be a doctor anyway?” Women…

Back in the 80’s when you made a mix tape for a girl, it was something special. Of course the 80’s would have been Bert and Ernie sing the hits or Chipmunks’ Christmas for me, but I digress. The music didn’t matter so much. It was the time and effort. You had to select songs, manually rewind your tapes to the correct track, and then record each song in real time. It probably took three solid hours to fill one side of the 90-minute tape, especially after all the decorating of the tape with stars and hearts.
The same sentiment is not there anymore. You drag and drop to build a playlist in iTunes and hit the “Burn” button. Where’s the effort? The effort isn’t the only thing that is missing. There is something so nostalgic about the cassette tape. While it’s not the same as the cassette tape, you can bring some of the nostalgia back with these great floppy disk looking compact discs. They store less than traditional discs, because of their shape. While it still takes very little time to put together a mix on a CD like this, the price tag of $8.00 per disc for a pack of four shows the love is there.
This weekend was Tiffany and Ivan’s wedding in San Francisco. I flew out Friday night after work. It took me such a long time to get the airport in the rain. I was so frustrated with all the traffic that I decided to treat myself to a first class seat on one of Virgin America’s new planes. I made my money back on free drinks, six on the plane, and one to go.
