About This Site...

This website has gone through many revisions since college but always maintained a spirit of fun. This is where I get to speak my mind, as a child would, spilling my thoughts without filtering them. I'm not likely to say anything profound or moving, but hopefully someone gets some entertainment value out of my ramblings.

About Me...

I'm just your average working class male, although I've held the title Boyfriend of the Year for many years running, and even received the self-assigned title of World's Strongest Billionaire. I enjoy good beer, good food, and good company.

Internet Competition

When surfing the Internet, I’ve always been free to use up as much bandwidth as I wish, because my parents just check email and browse text websites with a few images. Recently my parents have been discovering the awesomeness that is Internet. Now we fight over the bandwidth. My mom is constantly uploading her photos to her web album while watching violin concerts on YouTube. My dad has recently found out how to stream National Geographic documentaries. On top of having cell phones that use our Internet connection, things have slowed to a crawl. This is not good at all. How am I supposed to use the Internet as it was intended, to download porn? I think I’ll have to throttle my parents bandwidth at the router. Then they’ll be none the wiser.

Brilliant Marketing

Anyone can market a good product. You let people know the great features your product has and customers will buy it. Take a look at these razors. Pretty soon you’ll have ten blades on a razor, but the sales pitch is the same every time, a closer shave. Try marketing a product with fewer features and benefits.

Rubber Necker

I try to take my camera with me wherever I go. You never know when you’re going to come across something interesting that you want to capture in a photo. One thing that I like to do is take picture of accidents. I don’t try to take pictures of anything too horrible, and I try not to hold up traffic when I take my pictures. I put the camera out the window and hope I’m pointing it in the right direction as I drive by the scene.

Today was a horrible traffic day, which meant it was a particularly good day for accident photo opportunities. There must have been a big pileup on the opposite side of the freeway, because the 91 was turned into a parking lot for a while. There were fifteen squad cars on each side of the divider. By the time I got there, everything was pretty much cleared except for the law enforcement officers themselves.

Estate Sale

This weekend my family had an estate sale. That’s the fancy way of saying garage sale. It lets people know you are selling everything, not just the junk you don’t need. Unfortunately, my grandma owned mostly junk. Fortunately for us, people that show up to garage sales want mostly junk. They pass over the quality stuff for the cheap stuff. If any of you are looking for some junk, some of the stuff is still available. Download the pictures and circle what you want, and drop me an email. I’ll give you a good deal.

Academic Decathalon is a Sport

I was going to get this cake for my birthday, but it seemed to be a cultural mismatch. At first I was offended until I turned the page and saw a cake that suited me. It was called, “Greatest Mathematics Theorist.” The craftsmanship on the cake is incredible, right down to the little abacus.

Behind Schedule

It’s almost one month until my birthday and I haven’t figured out what I’m going to do yet. Normally I have my birthday planned three months in advance, and the invites go out two and a half months in advance. You have to make sure that no one else can make other plans and weasel their way out of your birthday. Well, while I get to work on what we will do for my birthday, you can all start your shopping.

Get Off Your High Horse

I drive past here every day on my way to work. I’m sure this has been here all 20+ years I’ve lived in PV, but never really noticed this. I stared at it, still half asleep, while I was sitting at the stoplight wondering why they would do this. Finally it dawned on me, and I snapped a photo.

Life in a Box

We have a renter for the old house. It all happened so quickly. Within a week we had a renter and had to clean up the old house in a hurry. Digging through all the old stuff I found some cool things. I dug up my baseball cards and comic books, which are completely worthless.

It’s Magic Time, Bitches!

This weekend was our weekend to visit the famous Magic Castle. For those of you that have not been, I highly recommend going at least once in your life. You get to get dressed up and pretend like you have a little bit of class for a change. Some people say once you’ve been there, it’s all the same, but I really enjoy the acts these performers put together and am fascinated by the art form. I’d go a couple times a year if someone else took the check.

We started out with some mind reading and mind control by Jheff. Both Ariane and Michelle got to be part of the performance and have their minds read. We grabbed a couple drinks at a bar and Tony Picasso did some incredible up close magic. He had eleven pairs of our eyes watching him the whole time, and he did some astonishing things. While they both did some incredible things, I’m surprised at the poor state of their websites. I think I could make a living doing websites for magicians. The last thing we went to see before dinner was Irma, the piano-playing ghost, who takes requests. We tried to stump her with everything from Super Mario Brothers, A-Team, Star Wars, Radiohead, Journey, but what really amazed us was when she started playing 50 Cent’s In Da Club.

Snail Mail

Well, the United States Postal Service is putting another price increase into effect. The government’s inefficiencies seemingly come to light as the price of sending a letter goes higher and higher, but there’s a catch. The price is up, but the delivery time is down. Now a forty two cent stamp will get you delivery anywhere in the United States in less than twelve parsecs, thanks in part to the hiring of a new mail delivery staff with special delivery craft.
