About This Site...

This website has gone through many revisions since college but always maintained a spirit of fun. This is where I get to speak my mind, as a child would, spilling my thoughts without filtering them. I'm not likely to say anything profound or moving, but hopefully someone gets some entertainment value out of my ramblings.

About Me...

I'm just your average working class male, although I've held the title Boyfriend of the Year for many years running, and even received the self-assigned title of World's Strongest Billionaire. I enjoy good beer, good food, and good company.

Wedding Weekend

There was a lull in the number of weddings I had to attend recently, but it looks like it is picking back up again. Last night I went to a wedding for Michelle’s high school friend, Shivani. Both the bride and the groom are of Indian descent, so the wedding was done in what I would have to assume is traditional style. They had a doctor that specializes in marriages fly all the way from Toronto to marry them.

Making Miniatures

I was browing the web when I came across a tutorial about how to make your photos look like miniature sets by reducing the area of focus to a small section of the photo. The eye is tricked into thinking the photo is of a miniature set. I took one of my pictures from France and ran through the tutorial to create this.

Photo Blog

I decided that in order to further my photographic career, I would have to push myself to become better. I would have to show off my successes and more importantly, my failures. That is why I created a photo blog. My Picasa gallery is where I publish lots of pictures to tell a story, without regard for the quality of the pictures: a point a shoot bonanza. This photo blog will be my photos that I think showcase some positive ability in my photo taking, as well as show my room for improvement. I’m just getting started, so please feel free to check back as I will be adding more in the future.

On a more technical note, the theme I am using for the photo blog is Monotone. It’s a very cool theme. The theme resizes the image on the fly and resizes its own boundaries dynamically to match it. The dimensions aren’t the only thing done automatically. The background color of the theme is done based off a sampling of the photo in the post.

I Hate You Only a Little Now

For those of you that know me, I’ve always said I hate San Diego. Hate really isn’t the right word, but the area really doesn’t do anything for me. People rave about the Mexican food, but I believe it exists just as good and possibly better in Los Angeles. Michelle and I needed to get out of town for a bit, so we figured San Diego was far enough to be called vacation but close enough not to be a hassle.

We left on Friday, because we wanted it to feel like a real vacation and not just a weekend excursion. Here is our trip in photo format. Closed captioning is provided by michellewoo.com.

Peace Through Weapons

Talk about shooting a beer. I love how the sight on this gun is a peace sign. If they could combine this gun with a cannon that fires slutty women or a bomb that disperses baby back ribs, enlistment lines would be very long. People would quickly forget their differences during battle and share a meal, a brew, and a woman. Hmm, maybe that slutty women cannon better fire condoms too, so we’re not accused of biological warfare when Herpes starts going around the enemies military camps.

Just in Time

It looks like we saw fireworks just in time. This was my view from my backyard this morning.

Next Year: Admission, Churros, Blankets

I spent my Fourth of July at home this year, because I wanted to see what fireworks would look like from our view of the Los Angeles basin. I was only expecting to see three fireworks shows: Hermosa Beach, Redondo Beach, and Wilson Park in Torrance. To my delight we saw big shows all over and lots more illegal fireworks, most likely purchased from over the border.

Putting Palos Verdes on the Map

These little buggers (no pun intended) are why they can’t build anything behind my old house. It’s just a barren hillside that flowers in the spring and is a fire hazard the rest of the year. Most of these butterflies are not blue at all. They look white, and I’m pretty sure I’ve killed a dozen of them in my 20+ years living in that house thinking they were moths. You can read more about them here and see the whole gallery of extinct animals back from the dead here.

It’s Over. I’m a Loser.

Hundreds of thousands of people raced. I ended up in 25th place with my ranking going to 11th place at times. Still, I am a loser, not because I didn’t plast first. It was more the fact that I wasted a week of time playing this game that I knew I had no chance of winning. I even drafted my cousin, who is on summer break, to pick up on flying when I was at work and sleeping.

Smoked Ribs, Attempt Two

My brother came down for the weekend with Joy. Shehad a baby shower to go to, so while she was playing “smell the diaper” games, Mike and I were fighting it out for our father’s love. That’s right. It was a Wii battle. I took golf and bowling with ease. Baseball and tennis were his arenas. In the end, it came down to mental ability in the puzzle games. Needless to say, I got blown out of the water. I have shamed the family and will be moving out this weekend. I am sore from playing Wii sports. Real sports must be even tougher.

Saturday night we went out to dinner for my mom’s birthday. Michelle and I wanted to go to Musha, but they were all booked. Instead we went to the original plan, Izakaya Yuzen Kan. This place is actually quite similar to Musha as far as serving tapas style dishes that are Japanese fusion. The food was good, and I’d go back there again. Musha still gets my vote for the hip factor and cheese risotto.
