It’s almost one month until my birthday and I haven’t figured out what I’m going to do yet. Normally I have my birthday planned three months in advance, and the invites go out two and a half months in advance. You have to make sure that no one else can make other plans and weasel their way out of your birthday. Well, while I get to work on what we will do for my birthday, you can all start your shopping.

Road rage is everywhere and it gets the best of all of us at times. Even though I’m susceptible to getting angry at poor drivers, I try to give them a break. I make the same mistakes due to my inattentiveness. I’m probably swerving back and forth in my lane right now as I write this post. I don’t care how much you enjoy driving or how much you consider yourself a road warrior. You have your share of mistakes. So cut everyone else on the road a little slack. If someone is truly dangerous on the road, don’t get mad. Just avoid them.

I wrote a pokst a little while back about outlets for donations. I was a little disappointed that no one had any comments on the post, but I hope people took a look at the links I provided as a viable means to share their own fortunes. Along the lines of giving, I found this video that intrigues me.

I have two cousins graduating from MIT this June and one more going in this fall. Yeah, they’re all pretty much going to eclipse me in the business world within six months out of school. That’s okay. I’m the funny cousin. Anyway, one thing I learned recently about MIT is that all of the students have to pass a swim test in order to graduate. They require two full laps around the perimeter of an Olympic-sized swimming pool without touching the bottom or the sides. I can think of a few of my friend that would not have degrees if they had to pass a swim test.

Still, I think it’s odd that a school that prides itself on its brain power would require a swim test to graduate. Pasty nerds don’t even like to get near the water whether it’s the beach or neighborhood pool. Computers don’t survive wet conditions. This makes me wonder how many MIT alumni are involved in drowning deaths each year.

Michelle was kind enough to loan me her car while my car is getting the windshield replaced. The people that come repair windshields don’t go far enough to come to my work, so we swapped cars. Unfortunately, she left me with her key chain with all her toys attached.

We’ve all seen the news about the protests against a certain country hosting the Olympics this year. What’s all the commotion about? Simply put, the host country’s government violates human rights. That’s not a secret, but is it enough to warrant the kind of protests that are happening? Absolutely not.

The Olympics is a tradition created long ago for countries to come together and compete in athletic venues. It has absolutely nothing to do with the government or politics of a nation. Back when the Olympics were created, countries would stop wars to come and compete in the games. This is how it was intended and the way it should be.

My brother works for a company that writes Internet-based software for non profit organizations. The company is a for profit company, but I am always fascinated by the fact that their market consists of solely non profit organizations that want to be online.

A lot of people make excuses for not giving, and I’ve used the same excuses at times. Giving is nice, but when you have to go out of your way to give, it gets pushed to the back burner. The Internet is a great tool to raise awareness for causes that need funding and to help facilitate that funding.

I ran across an article about a gentleman, who made his car look like a police car. Local law enforcement noted that as long as he doesn’t act like an officer of the law, he is not breaking any laws. I could think of a few fun things I could do in a car like that without acting like a police officer.

Still, it’s probably more of a pain than anything to have that car, especially in Los Angeles. It doesn’t matter if the speed limit is 55 MPH. If a police car is in front of you on the road and driving 35 MPH, you don’t pass him. If he is behind you, slow down to 45 MPH. Think about what a pain it would be to have to always drive slow, because people are afraid of getting tickets.
