This website has gone through many revisions since college but always maintained a spirit of fun. This is where I get to speak my mind, as a child would, spilling my thoughts without filtering them. I'm not likely to say anything profound or moving, but hopefully someone gets some entertainment value out of my ramblings.
When I was writing my last post, I got tangled into the web that is YouTube. I started browsing related videos and I found this Weezer cover. Then I remembered Tim showed me a great ukulele player, so I dug up that video as well. Then I went to look back at girl, who did the Weezer cover to see if she played anything else on the ukulele. I found this video that made me laugh.
Weezer has a new album coming out in just about a week. Their new single, Pork and Beans, has been on the airwaves for a while now, and it’s typical Weezer style. I like Weezer, but this song is nothing special, or at least that’s what I thought until I saw the official video. I always classified Weezer into their own genre, which I called Geek Rock. They’ve gone and proved that by creating a music video with some of the Internet’s most infamous personalities.
For all of you that think you know your rock history, it is incomplete without knowing the history and the catalog of The Beatles. Here is a kid that is quite young and doesn’t even speak English. Yet somehow he manages to sing one of the classics.
As promised I dug through some of my old CDs that I burned in college. It was great finding tons of music videos. What is amazing is the low quality some of these videos. I remember them taking up half of my screen when I was in school. I must have been running a 600-pixel resolution or something, because these videos are tiny on my computer now.
These three videos I dug up are Japanese commercials for a well known athletics gear company. Although these are old and not American commercials, I’d rather not receive take down notices from YouTube. I found these through my Japanese roommate, who was really into Japanese pop culture. He would wake up at 4:00 AM once a week to listen to a Japanese radio show that streamed live over the Internet. He said all three of these videos had famous Japanese rappers do the music.
Girls never understand how painful it is to get hit in the crotch. To give you an example of how bad the pain is, if you asked a guy whether he would rather get hit in the face or the crotch with a baseball thrown from thirty feet away, most guys would answer the face is the better option.
The sensation of pain is so sharp and intense, and it does not stay located in the region of the crotch. Standing is impossible after a solid hit. Your limbs go numb and your body just collapses under its own weight. Your lungs tighten up and breathing becomes very difficult as your heart rate skyrockets. Your stomach cramps up as if you’ve just done hundreds of situps. I haven’t figured out the reason for this part, but your mouth goes completely dry too, like waking up from a morning of heavy drinking. Tears streaming down the face and vomiting often accompany harder hits to the crotch.
I ran across an awesome infomercial for a device that is supposed to gyrate your hips while sitting at work.
Maybe it’s that you suck at life. Some very creative person has created these Photoshop tutorials for YouTube that are much less tutorial, and more like pathetic misery sessions. They’re well monologued and hilariously well done. Some of the dialog is not safe for work, so break out the headphones and have a blast.
This Friday was Spencer’s birthday. He thought he was going to a show. Little did he know that when he came upstairs to get the tickets that Vivian forgot, we jumped out and surprised him. We had a sushi party with all the fixings.
Well another Christmas season is just about wrapped up. I remember when vacations were relaxing. Now we rush to get presents, to attend events, and there’s never time to relax. Such is life. Be sure to check out all the pictures after the break.
I don’t know when the last time I had a weekend to do nothing. I always say that I’m going to do nothing but end up doing lots of fun stuff. This weekend was no exception. Be sure to read the whole post for all the pictures and video highlights.
It started out Friday night with a trip down to Cal State Long Beach’s Pyramid to watch Michelle’s cousin Ashley play volleyball. She is on the women’s volleyball team, and her birthday is this week, so the whole family went to watch her play. They wiped the floor with Cal State Bakersfield, which was just what I wanted to see, because afterwards we got to go eat pizza. I haven’t has a victory pizza party in so long. Perhaps that is because I haven’t won anything in a long time.
