It’s Magic Time, Bitches!
Written by m@ on May 11, 2008 – 9:58 pmThis weekend was our weekend to visit the famous Magic Castle. For those of you that have not been, I highly recommend going at least once in your life. You get to get dressed up and pretend like you have a little bit of class for a change. Some people say once you’ve been there, it’s all the same, but I really enjoy the acts these performers put together and am fascinated by the art form. I’d go a couple times a year if someone else took the check.
We started out with some mind reading and mind control by Jheff. Both Ariane and Michelle got to be part of the performance and have their minds read. We grabbed a couple drinks at a bar and Tony Picasso did some incredible up close magic. He had eleven pairs of our eyes watching him the whole time, and he did some astonishing things. While they both did some incredible things, I’m surprised at the poor state of their websites. I think I could make a living doing websites for magicians. The last thing we went to see before dinner was Irma, the piano-playing ghost, who takes requests. We tried to stump her with everything from Super Mario Brothers, A-Team, Star Wars, Radiohead, Journey, but what really amazed us was when she started playing 50 Cent’s In Da Club.

Snail Mail
Written by m@ on May 8, 2008 – 3:34 pmWell, the United States Postal Service is putting another price increase into effect. The government’s inefficiencies seemingly come to light as the price of sending a letter goes higher and higher, but there’s a catch. The price is up, but the delivery time is down. Now a forty two cent stamp will get you delivery anywhere in the United States in less than twelve parsecs, thanks in part to the hiring of a new mail delivery staff with special delivery craft.

Give Me a Brake
Written by m@ on May 6, 2008 – 2:38 pmRoad rage is everywhere and it gets the best of all of us at times. Even though I’m susceptible to getting angry at poor drivers, I try to give them a break. I make the same mistakes due to my inattentiveness. I’m probably swerving back and forth in my lane right now as I write this post. I don’t care how much you enjoy driving or how much you consider yourself a road warrior. You have your share of mistakes. So cut everyone else on the road a little slack. If someone is truly dangerous on the road, don’t get mad. Just avoid them.

A True Rock Star
Written by m@ on May 5, 2008 – 4:39 pm
All of you have heard of The Offspring. Even if you’re not into the genre of music, I’m pretty sure you’ve heard the song, Pretty Fly for a White Guy. Their lead singer is known as Dexter Holland. He is known for his characteristically unique vocals. He earned the nickname for being incredibly smart, and his track record proves it. He was valedictorian of his high school. He received a Bachelor’s degree in biology and a Master’s degree in molecular biology, both from USC. He declined the pursuit of a PhD in order to work with his band. How awesome is that?
To top it off, the guy has his own hot sauce line. It’s kind of a strange business to get into, especially since there are thousands of hot sauces to choose from on the shelves. You can try Gringo Bandito at any Wahoo’s Fish Taco or you can buy it at Albertsons. I love how all the testimonials are from rock stars.

Meet Montgomery
Written by m@ on May 5, 2008 – 9:51 amI know I have a whole separate website dedicated to my fish keeping now, but I just had to share the latest addition to my fish collection. Allow me to introduce Montgomery, my Halfmoon Betta. When the weather warms up, I will try to mate this fine specimen. Who wants their own fish?

Down With Government Spending
Written by m@ on May 4, 2008 – 1:50 pmI wrote a pokst a little while back about outlets for donations. I was a little disappointed that no one had any comments on the post, but I hope people took a look at the links I provided as a viable means to share their own fortunes. Along the lines of giving, I found this video that intrigues me.

Perks of the Industry
Written by m@ on May 1, 2008 – 3:39 pmPeople in the entertainment industry get to meet celebrities and go to big Hollywood events and get free DVDs. People in the record industry get to go to concerts and grab free CDs. What do I get? Well, I can do anything plumbing related pretty inexpensively, but there’s much better things than that. We work with a lot of food companies, and when you get them out of a bind, they reward you with product.

Talk About a Good Sport
Written by m@ on April 30, 2008 – 10:31 amESPN wrote this story about true sportsmanship. This is the kind of touching underdog sports story that would bring a tear to your eye, that is if softball was actually a sport. I’ll save my tears for Rudy. Still, it is a great example of sportsmanship. It’s not all about winning, especially in women’s sports.
